You are a treasure.
I am a treasure.
God crafted within us buried treasure, and He called us to present it to the world out of the overflow of His love, for the furthering of His Kingdom and the healing of the broken.
For years, I hid my treasures. I was paralyzed in my self-full insecurities. I had so many reasons that felt incredibly valid in the moment: “Other people are better than I am.” “What if I fail?” “I don’t have time.” “I have failed before.” “I’m too scared.” “I’m simply not good enough.” “I don’t want to be seen. I like to stay in the background, unnoticed.”
The list of excuses could stretch for miles, and I’m pretty sure we all have them. But what if….what if I am created for this? What if my gift could bring healing and restoration to someone else? What if it could restore me? False narratives threaten to write the story of our lives, but they don’t have to do so.
Patiently, kindly, God is re-writing my narrative: about Who God is, and, as a result, about who I am. I am a beloved child of God who lives in God’s unshakable, immovable kingdom. I am secure in Him. Whatever the outcome of my choice to share my gifts with the world, I am forever the beloved. What once felt like a dangerous risk now feels like a joyful opportunity.
Once I lay pride, insecurity, suspicion, comparison, jealousy, and need for approval on the altar, I can freely share my God-given treasures with the world.
We love because He first loved us. We give because Giver of all good and perfect gifts continues to pour into us gifts meant to be shared with the world.
The lies that the enemy used for so long to define my false identity no longer dictate how I use (or bury) my gifts.
Where’s your passion?
What makes your heart quicken and your stomach flutter?
Rise up. Eyes to Jesus.
Hold open your palms and present your treasure, and enter into the Master’s joy. Watch Him multiply your gifts so that through them the multitudes may taste the goodness of the living God.
